What makes me tick…
I’m a self-confessed stickler for brand: faultless alignment, clean layouts, and considered typography are my thing. I never take my eye off the ball – essential when you’ve worked on the number of financial services accounts that I have.
Some say I’m driven by an ‘OCD-like’ attention for detail. It’s certainly true that I’ll be the first person who notices when two bricks aren’t quite aligned properly. But this level of focus is not at the expense of creative flair. Given a Mac and a blank piece of paper I can design with the best of them.
I’ve also enjoyed a stint as a studio manager, so I’m an experienced link between the creative team and client services, keeping an agency running like a well-oiled machine. I know that running a studio presents daily challenges – and rewards – and it means that I can see every job from both sides of the fence.
My solid creative and production grounding has allowed me to not only continue to progress my own skills, but also to mentor, train and develop a successful department.
Paul’s just what you’re looking for in a Studio Manager; patient, resourceful, pragmatic and not without a sense of humour. He’ll always try his hardest to make sure resource needs are met, and I’ve seen how hard he works at maintaining relationships with our freelancers. And he doesn’t just sit behind his mac and hope for the best; he can often be found stalking the client services team and making sure everything is going to plan – I think we call it collaboration! He’s a good guy too, which helps massively.
Paul offers everything a good studio manager should. Safe hands, a resourcefulness that can only be admired and a calm head when things get tough. As a freelancer I’ve only ever found Paul to be fair and honest, encouraging and supportive, where his skills as traffic manager are equalled by his expertise in artwork and production. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Paul.
Paul is a very skilled and experienced creative artworker, and a great studio manager. He’s a calm, capable and reassuring presence in the office, and I always felt in safe hands when he was managing and scheduling me.
Paul began working with the Wolfburn team in 2012, there was no logo, no website, no social media presence, nothing. From a blank canvas, over the space of four years, Paul has single handedly created a class-leading brand. There are other new entrants to the single malt whisky market, but none has the brand presence or penetration of Wolfburn. It is largely due to Paul’s hard work and creativity that our whisky has become a global success story.
